Let’s talk about three types of people in the world—the Natural Man, the Carnal Man, and the Spiritual Man. According to the Apostle Paul in 1 Corinthians 2:14, these three represent where each of us may stand spiritually.
1. The Natural Man – El Hombre Natural
The natural man is not born again.
He may be a churchgoer. He may even say he believes in God. But he lives according to his feelings, his desires, and the ways of the world.
1 Corinthians 2:14 – “But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.”
This person still enjoys the nightclub more than the altar. He listens to dirty jokes, uses foul language, and lives for himself.
He doesn’t pray. He doesn’t seek God.
He doesn’t understand how we can come to church several days a week. He says, “You people are crazy!”
He lives in the flesh. That’s why the Bible says:
“Porque la mente carnal es muerte; pero la mente espiritual es vida y paz.”
(Romans 8:6 – For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.)
2. The Carnal Man – El Hombre Carnal
This man is a Christian, but he is immature. He has accepted Jesus but hasn’t let the Holy Spirit take full control.
He means well—he wants to pray but never does.
He plans to fast, but he’s always “too busy.”
He doesn’t tithe, doesn’t forgive, doesn’t grow.
He’s like a pharmacy full of medicine but offers no cure.
He is what I call a 30/30 Christian –
He comes to church 30 minutes late and leaves 30 minutes early!
He may be a doctor, a lawyer, a professor—but without the Holy Spirit, he is just religious.
He doesn’t lie, but he doesn’t tell the truth.
He doesn’t steal, but he doesn’t give.
He doesn’t hate, but he doesn’t love.
He is like an abandoned church, with no fire, no Spirit, no presence.
As the Bible says, “Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof” (2 Timothy 3:5).
3. The Spiritual Man – El Hombre Espiritual
Now we come to the spiritual man—the man who is truly born again.
He is filled with the Holy Spirit. He walks by faith. He prays, fasts, gives, forgives, and lives in the presence of God daily.
He doesn’t need to be begged to worship. He lives to worship.
He doesn’t chase after the world. He chases after God.
He understands the words of Jesus in John 3:7:
“Do not marvel that I said to you, ‘You must be born again.’”
He is immune to spiritual death. His spirit is alive in Christ!
He is what Paul describes in 1 Corinthians 2:15 –
“The spiritual man judges all things, yet he himself is judged by no one.”
He moves in signs and wonders.
“Y estas señales seguirán a los que creen…”
(Mark 16:17 – These signs shall follow them that believe…)
– They cast out demons, speak in new tongues, heal the sick.
How Can I Be Born Again?
You must receive Jesus not just in your mouth, but into your heart.
You must repent and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ.
But it doesn’t stop at water. You must also receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit.
Acts 19:2 – “Have you received the Holy Ghost since you believed?”
They answered, “We haven’t even heard of the Holy Ghost!”
Paul laid hands on them, and they received the Holy Spirit, spoke in tongues, and prophesied!
Acts 2:3-4 – On the day of Pentecost, tongues of fire came upon them, and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit.
Conclusion: What Must You Do Today?
Accept Jesus
Repent of sin
Be baptized in water
Ask for the Holy Spirit
Walk as a spiritual man or woman
God doesn’t want natural men, or carnal Christians.
He wants us to be born again, nacido de nuevo, filled with the Spirit, walking in truth and power!
Are you ready to leave your old life behind?
Are you ready to say:
“I need to be born again!”?
Prayer of Salvation:
“Lord Jesus, I come to you today.
I know I’ve lived in the flesh.
I want to be born again.
Forgive my sins.
Clean me. Fill me with your Holy Spirit.
Help me to walk with you.
In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.”
